I grew up a Jayhawks fan! I don't remember not watching a Big 8 season tourney; and rooting for the Hawks! So it brings me great joy to see our boys being influenced by the same person who taught me the true love of basketball & The Jayhawks: my daddy!
Lately, Stinger has become very intrigued w/ sports, players, numbers, stats, etc. I love it when we get the opportunity to be with my parents on a game day. This past weekend, when the Jayhawks played Mizzou, I got to listen to my son & my dad watch & enjoy the game, side by side discussing every move, shot, steal, foul, etc. Stinger loves to ask Grandpa questions, talk basketball, players, and good & bad moves throughout the game. The yelling, hi fiving & constant talking to the t.v. makes me smile everytime. It warms my heart to know that one more Jayhawks fan has Kansas Basketball blood pulsing through their veins. What a great tradition; and awesome thing.
***a fun side not to this post is that both of our boys' teams were the Jayhawks basketball teams were the Jayhawks.
Buzzbee's team was coached by my childhood friend Will C, and his daddy....they went undefeated this season.
Stinger's team was coached by two great guys from Towanda; Justin Romick & Charlie Jacobson....their record was 5 & 5...and had quite a few REALLY close games that we should have won but got robbed on some key calls.
